Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 / Svartpilen 250
“HUSQVARNA " a new brand step in Indian market and introduced its two new motorcycle but firstly lets know about the brand.
Well, it’s all started when Stefan Pierer owned Pierer industries and bought Husqvarna from the BMW group in January 2013 for an undisclosed amount. The BMW Group had earlier acquired Husqvarna from MV Agusta.
This opened a possibility of an affordable Husqvarna Motorcycle made in India at Bajaj- KTM Chakan plant. After an agonising wait spanning over half a decade, the KTM-Bajaj duo was excepted to confirm Indian plans for Husqvarna at India Bike Week 2020. However, the alliance sprung us with the twins – Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 & Svartpilen 250.
Both motorcycle are powered by a 248.8 cc fuel-injected, liquid – cooled, single cylinder, 4 stroke DOHC 6 – speed Engine that produces 29.5 BHP at 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. It gets 43mm upside down fork up front and a monoshock at the rear.
The break set up includes a 320mm disc Bybre four – piston calliper on the front wheel and a single – piston calliper on a 230mm disc on the rear wheel. While the Svartpilien weighs 154kg (kerb), the Vitpilen is one kilogram lighter. Dimensions such as seat height 842mm, ground clearance 149mm and the fuel tank capacity 9.5 litres both of motorcycle.
The Vitpilen 250 shares its compact, full – digital instrument cluster with the Svartpilen 250. The round shape of the instrument cluster enhances the retro-look of the motorcycle while the display shows a plethora of information such as a digital tachometer, speedometer, and gear position indicator and fuel gauge among others.
The Vitpilen 250 belongs to the café racer segment and gets forward leaning Riding posture. The Svartpilen 250 is a scrambler and is offered with taller handle bar and dual – purpose tires. The Vitpilen aims at being canyon carver while the svartpilen can tackle light trails.
Both bikes are offered with their unique paint schemes. Husqvarna has decked the Vitpilen with a white fuel tank, a grey tail section and sliver accents, while the Svartpilen takes on a darker shade with a contrasting grey fuel tank, white accents, and a sliver tail section. Both of the motorcycle gets LED headlamps & LED tail lamp and slipper clutch.
The two have distinctive styling , the Svartpilen 250 also gets a tank rack so the rider can strap a tank bag that the Vitpilen doesn’t .alloys are different on the two – Svartpilen has eight – spoke rims with dual –purpose MRF Revz tyres and the Vitpilen have 4 spoke alloy with road focused MRF FC1 Tyres .
Both the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 are priced the same –INR 1.80 lakh (ex – showroom, Delhi). However, this price is applicable for an introductory period and will be increased at a later date.
